Did you know that if your house in Costa Rica is worth more than CRC 126,000,000.00 (one hundred and twenty six million colones), approximately $230,000.00 US (two hundred and twenty thousand dollars), you are obliged to pay the Luxury Homes Tax? By means of law 8683, the Costa Rican Government imposed this tax to finance duelling programs for people living in poverty or extrement poverty. If you have not declared your property or have never paid this tax, you may relieve yourself from the payment of up to 80% of the applicable fines and penalties by declaring your property and paying voluntarily.
